Saber Interactive released the Anniversary Update 2 for Space Marine 2 on October 1, bringing version 15.0 to players worldwide. This patch introduces significant gameplay additions, including a new asymmetric mode that lets players control Heretic Astartes against Tyranids and Loyalists. The update also adds a new endgame PvE mode called Crucible for high-level characters. These changes expand the game's content library and offer fresh challenges for veteran players.

Patch 1.015 brings new asymmetric gameplay and tactical class balance changes
The core of this release is the new Chaos in Siege mode, which operates on the map Hive. Players can choose to fight as Heretic Astartes in a battle against both Tyranid swarms and Loyalist forces. The Crucible mode serves as a new endgame objective for Level 25 classes, offering unique rewards for completion. These additions provide structured new ways to engage with the game's lore and mechanics.
Saber Interactive has reworked the Tactical class to improve build diversity and balance. The developers reduced the damage bonus provided by the Auspex scan ability to lower its overall impact. To compensate for this reduction, they increased the base damage for almost all primary weapons. The Tactical class now receives Kraken Penetrator rounds by default to help even the playing field.
Melta weapons received significant damage boosts, though these come with stricter ammo limits and damage falloff. The update also introduces the One Handed Thunder Hammer as a new weapon option. Wargear 2.2 adds separate slots for tabards and cloaks, allowing for more detailed painting options. Three new Heroic weapons are also available for players to equip.
When we covered the last Space Marine 2 update, several of the same balance and stability themes came up. This patch continues that trend by adjusting weapon damage and class perks to refine the experience. The developers stated that these changes aim to provide more build options for Tactical players. The update is now live globally for all players.
