Blaze is expanding its retro gaming lineup with the Evercade Nexus, a handheld that finally brings modern controls to a classic format. This update matters because the new twin analog sticks allow for precise camera control in 3D platformers and shooters, a feature previous Evercade devices lacked. Buyers who enjoy 3D retro titles will find the hardware significantly more comfortable to use.

Blaze handheld features twin analog sticks and native 60fps ports
The device features a 5.89-inch IPS screen, making it the largest handheld in the Evercade series to date. It also introduces twin analog sticks alongside the traditional D-pad, a first for the brand. This hardware shift supports native ports that require dual-stick input for full functionality.
Specifications
- Screen Size: 5.89 inches
- Controls: Twin analog sticks, D-Pad
- Connectivity: WiFi 6
- Streaming Feature: EverSync
- Orientation Mode: TATE mode
Connectivity improves with the addition of WiFi 6 support for faster network performance. Blaze also includes a new streaming feature called EverSync to facilitate local multiplayer sessions. The system retains the TATE mode for vertical orientation games, accessible with a single button press.
Launch titles include native ports of Banjo-Kazooie and Banjo-Tooie that run at 60fps with native widescreen support. These ports allow players to rotate the camera using the right analog stick. A Doom Collection cartridge is also launching, featuring native ports of Doom and Doom 2 with exclusive modifiers and smooth twin-stick controls.

The Evercade Nexus arrives globally at the end of October. We have tracked the Evercade Nexus DOOM Edition Bundle Hits in earlier coverage. The device represents a clear step up in hardware capability for the retro handheld market.
