Sony is raising the price of its PlayStation Plus Essential subscription starting May 20. The monthly fee will increase from $9.99 to $10.99 USD (about $10.99). The 3-month Essential tier will also go up by $3, from $24.99 to $27.99 USD (about $27.99).
Essential tier monthly fee increases by $1
The price increase applies to the Essential tier, the entry-level PlayStation Plus plan. Sony has not announced changes to the Extra or Premium tiers. The new pricing takes effect on May 20.

Sony generated $5 billion from Network Services in its fiscal year 2025. The company's network services include PlayStation Plus subscriptions and other online offerings.
Sony has not commented on the reason for the price increase. The company has not confirmed whether the change will apply to regions outside the US.
