SEGA is expanding the content roadmap for Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds with a free update that introduces Bayonetta as a playable character. This addition matters to players who want to expand their roster without spending extra money on the latest crossover title. The update also brings the Butterfly Witch machine and special emotes to the game.
SEGA releases the Witch as a free playable character alongside new vehicle packs
The racing title supports a wide range of platforms, including PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Switch 2, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store. This broad availability ensures that most gamers can access the new content regardless of their hardware. SEGA announced these updates to keep the player base engaged throughout the second year of the game.
The Bayonetta content arrives as the first free character update for year two. Teaser footage released by SEGA also revealed details for upcoming downloadable content packs. The Godzilla Pack will include the Godzilla Escape course, the Godzilla Cruiser, King Ghidorah Coupe, and Mothra Surf machines. These additions offer new vehicles and tracks for players to explore.
The Evangelion Pack adds the Tokyo-III course and three specific machines: EVA-01 (Test Type), EVA-00 (Proto Type), and EVA-02 (Production Model). It also introduces two playable characters, Rei Ayanami and Asuka Shikinami Langley. We looked at the last Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds update earlier while tracking SEGA's release schedule. These packs continue the trend of major anime and movie crossovers in the game.
SEGA will reveal further details about the year two roadmap during a live stream on October 9. The Bayonetta update is available now for all supported platforms. Players can immediately download the character and machines to start racing.
