Steam Deck compatibility passes 30,000 games, but anti- cheat software limits playability for top- tier titles. See the full breakdown of verified and playable games.

HANDHELD GAMING

has pushed the compatibility milestone past 30,000 games, giving handheld owners a clearer map of which titles actually run on the device. This update matters because it quantifies the gap between the massive library and the hardware's actual capabilities. Buyers can now see exactly how many games they can expect to play without troubleshooting.

Valve has updated its compatibility tracking for the Steam Deck.

Valve updates compatibility tracking with new verification milestones

The company tracks three distinct categories for every title in the Steam store. The Deck Verified program marks 8,960 games that meet strict performance standards. Another 21,080 titles carry the Playable label for games that run with minor adjustments. This system helps users filter out titles that simply will not work on the handheld.

  • Deck Verified Games: 8,960
  • Steam Deck Playable Games: 21,080
  • Unsupported Games: 6,848
  • Total Compatible Games: 31,297
  • Top 10 Games Playability: 40%

Valve verifies titles by checking compatibility, input controls, and controller support. The review process also ensures that user interfaces and text remain readable at the Deck's native 800p or 720p resolution. These checks apply to the entire SteamOS ecosystem, which supports a total of 31,297 games in some capacity.

Despite the high total number of compatible titles, top-tier games face significant hurdles. Anti-cheat software remains the primary blocker for popular releases. Only 40% of Steam's top 10 games are certified as playable, and that figure only improves by 5% when looking at the top 100. Just 35% of the top 1,000 games work on the Deck.

We looked at the last Steam Deck update, several of the same balance and stability themes came up. Valve has announced it will be expanding its verification program to the Steam Machine and Steam Frame as well. This expansion suggests the verification standards will eventually apply to future hardware platforms beyond the current handheld.
