Apple is reportedly developing an intelligent recommendation system for Genmoji in iOS 27 and iPadOS 27. The feature could automatically generate custom emoji suggestions based on photos in a user's gallery and their typing habits.
New recommendation system may suggest emoji automatically
Genmoji debuted in iOS 18.2 as part of Apple Intelligence, allowing users to create custom emoji from text prompts. Apple updated the feature in iOS 26 with more customization options, including the ability to mix two emoji styles into a single Genmoji.

The new system could make Genmoji more proactive, suggesting custom emoji from the keyboard without requiring manual prompts. However, analyzing personal photos and typing history may raise privacy concerns for some users.
The leak from Bloomberg's Mark Gurman does not clarify whether the recommendation system will run entirely on-device. Apple has not officially confirmed the feature or its availability.
