Spiderling Studios has announced a new space-themed DLC for Besiege titled The Broken Beyond. The expansion introduces large-scale environments with gravity mechanics based on Newtonian physics.

Gravity mechanics redefine gameplay

Gravity affects gameplay in The Broken Beyond. Planets, asteroids, and platforms each have unique gravitational fields. Players can land on spherical planets, drive on planetary discs, and navigate asteroid fields. All large objects exert gravitational forces simultaneously, enabling orbital paths. Space debris includes rocks, meteoroids, and moons that can be crashed out of orbit.

The Broken Beyond is set to launch globally in the second quarter of 2026.

Spiderling Studios stated that its goal with Besiege has always been to create a middle ground between realistic simulation and quirky physics. The developer said The Broken Beyond offers the closest experience to a true Newtonian simulation, pushing the laws of physics into mind-bending wackiness. For unusually shaped objects like lumpy asteroids, the studio combines several gravitational fields with clever maths to make them feel realistic to drive on.
