Take-Two Interactive is using legal force to stop leaks of Grand Theft Auto 6 before its release. The publisher filed multiple subpoenas against Microsoft and Discord to identify the source of the leaked information. This legal escalation matters to players because it signals the company is prioritizing secrecy over transparency ahead of the 2026 launch. The aggressive stance aims to protect intellectual property and maintain market confidence.

Publisher targets Discord and Microsoft data to identify source

The legal action targets specific individuals who may have access to internal data. Twitter user DarkViperAU claims that Take-Two mentioned his name directly in the subpoenas. He states that the company is seeking his Discord information to investigate potential leaks. This claim places him at the center of the publisher's investigation, even though he denies involvement.

DarkViperAU explicitly denies being the leaker or possessing any leaked content. He told reporters that he does not know anything about the leaks and that the Discord account in question does not belong to him. He further clarified that there are no clips of the leaks in either of his Discord servers. These denials create uncertainty about whether he is the actual source or merely a person of interest.

The leak has already impacted the company's financial standing. Take-Two saw its stock value drop significantly as investor confidence wavered due to the premature information. We have been tracking GTA 6 closely and covered the financial fallout in our earlier reporting on Take-Two Loses $2 Billion as GTA. The current legal maneuvers are a direct response to that financial damage and the need to secure the game's narrative integrity.
