The Prince of Persia Trilogy receives a visual upgrade through new 4K texture packs released by modder Evgeshajk. This update allows players to experience the classic action-adventure titles with significantly higher resolution assets. The changes matter because they modernize the look of these older games without altering their core design.

Modder uses AI to upscale classic game assets

The mod covers three specific entries in the series: Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, Prince of Persia: Warrior Within, and Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones. Evgeshajk utilized artificial intelligence tools to process and enhance the original texture files for each game. This approach ensures that the new assets fit the specific visual identity of each title.

The primary technical change involves increasing the texture resolution to 4K standards. The modder states that the AI tools help maintain the original art style while making the surfaces appear sharper and crisper. This balance aims to improve clarity without making the graphics look out of place in the original game engine.

The author notes that while the visual difference is huge, the lighting remains basic compared to modern titles. The textures do not change the underlying lighting models or shader effects used in the original games. Players should expect a cleaner image but not a complete graphical overhaul.

The texture packs are available for free download on Nexus Mods. Users can find the specific mod pages for each of the three games on the platform. This distribution method allows PC gamers to easily apply the enhancements to their existing game installations.
