Gamers on a budget now have a wired option that brings console-grade spatial audio to their setup without breaking the bank. The Edifier Hecate Hunter S earbuds bring THX-certified sound positioning to devices like the Nintendo Switch and PS5 for just under thirty dollars. This release gives PC and console players a low-cost way to hear directional cues like footsteps or reloads without needing expensive wireless gear.
THX spatial audio helps players locate audio cues in games
The Hecate Hunter S is a wired in-ear monitor designed specifically for gaming and mobile use. Edifier built this device to bridge the gap between casual listening and competitive play by including a dedicated digital-to-analog converter. The earbuds connect via a 2-meter braided USB-C cable that plugs directly into compatible devices.
Inside the earbuds, Edifier installed 10mm dual-chamber dynamic drivers with a liquid crystal polymer dome and titanium plating. These drivers support a frequency response from 20Hz to 40kHz and deliver a sensitivity of 97dB. The built-in DAC handles audio playback up to 384kHz/32-bit, ensuring high-resolution sound reaches your ears.
For competitive gaming, the earbuds feature THX-customized spatial audio with a 7.1.4-channel configuration. This setup provides vertical sound positioning to help players locate audio cues coming from above or below. The package also includes an inline remote with a silicon microphone that supports 48kHz/24-bit voice sampling. Edifier claims the physical design offers up to 30dB of passive noise isolation.
The Hecate Hunter S is currently available on JD.com in China. The standard price is 221 YUAN (around $32.75) CNY (around $32.75), while the initial launch price sits at 199 YUAN (around $29.49) CNY (around $29.49). These wired earbuds offer a concrete, affordable entry point into THX-certified gaming audio for users who prefer a direct connection over wireless latency.
