AMD announces FSR 4.1 upscaling will come to RDNA 3 (RX 7000) in July 2026 and RDNA 2 (RX 6000) in early 2027, following community backlash over PS5 Pro's PSSR 2.0 leak.

PC HARDWARE

announced that 4.1 will expand to RDNA 3 and RDNA 2 GPUs. The upscaling technology was previously limited to RDNA 4-based RX 9000 series cards. The move follows community backlash after a leak suggested the PS5 Pro's PSSR 2.0 uses FSR 4.1 INT8 while PC RDNA 2 and RDNA 3 were skipped.

FSR 4.1 arrives on RDNA 3 in July 2026

FSR 4.1 will come to RDNA 3-based RX 7000 series GPUs in July 2026. RDNA 2-based RX 6000 series cards will receive the update in early 2027. AMD expects FSR 4.1 to support over 300 games at launch on RDNA 3. Jack Huynh, AMD's Senior Vice President and General Manager of Computing and Graphics, said the team tested across hundreds of PC configurations and games to ensure sharp visuals and out-of-the-box functionality.

FSR 4.1 will be available globally for RX 7000 series GPUs starting July 2026. RX 6000 series owners can expect the update in early 2027.

The expansion addresses a key concern from the AMD gaming community. Many users had assumed long-term support when purchasing RDNA 3 and RDNA 2 cards. The leak about PSSR 2.0 using FSR 4.1 INT8 on console while skipping PC counterparts drew criticism. AMD's announcement now brings the technology to a wider range of PC gamers.

Jack Huynh confirmed the rollout in an announcement video on the AMD Gaming YouTube channel. He stated that his team has been working hard to evolve FSR 4 and bring it to more cards. The exact launch dates for individual games have not been detailed.
