SpruceOS version 4.3 lands on a growing list of retro handhelds, bringing new system support and interface tweaks to devices like the TrimUI Brick Pro and Anbernic RGXX line. This update matters because it expands the hardware compatibility for users who want to run custom firmware on their existing devices. The release adds full support for the TrimUI Brick Pro and early development support for the Anbernic RGXX+ lineup. Buyers with these specific handhelds can now access the latest features without buying new hardware.

Custom firmware update expands device compatibility and interface options

The software targets a range of popular retro gaming devices, including the TrimUI Brick Pro, Anbernic RGXX line, Miyoo Mini, and Smart Pro S. SpruceOS 4.3 introduces new emulator systems and refreshes existing ones to improve the gaming library. The update adds ATOMISWAVE system support and refreshes the NAOMI emulator. It also includes an OpenBOR mod build for Final Fight LNS to enhance gameplay stability.

Interface customization receives a significant boost with new screensaver options and navigation improvements. Users can now set up customizable PyUI screensavers and enable a random box art screensaver mode. The update also adds a vertical carousel view option for browsing games.
