DICE has confirmed that matchmaking problems are affecting Battlefield 6, and the studio is actively investigating the root causes. Players who have experienced inconsistent match quality or unfair lobbies should expect the developer to address these systemic issues in upcoming updates. This acknowledgment marks a direct response to community feedback regarding bot density and connection stability.

DICE investigates bot density and ping issues alongside new features

The developer identified three specific pain points driving player frustration during the current live service period. These issues include matches that start or backfill with an excessive number of bots, significant disparities in team ticket counts, and players being placed in matches with high ping. DICE stated that the team is examining interconnected systems to resolve these inconsistencies.

Custom Lobbies and Spectator Mode are scheduled to arrive with Season 4 Phase 2, titled Top Gun, on August 18. These features will be deployed through Battlefield Labs in Live, allowing players to test and provide feedback before a wider release. The implementation of these tools aims to give the community more control over their multiplayer experience.

Proximity Chat is set to launch with Season 4 Phase 3, Tidal Strike, on September 15, initially supporting the Battle Royale mode. The roadmap for Season 5 includes the return of the Server Browser, Platoons, and Multiplayer Leaderboards. Development on Multiplayer Ranked mode is also progressing, incorporating feedback from the Season 3 Ranked Battle Royale experience.

There is no release date set for Season 5 yet, leaving the timeline for the Server Browser and other major features open. We looked at the last Battlefield 6 update, several of the same balance and stability themes came up. The developer remains focused on stabilizing the core matchmaking infrastructure before introducing new seasonal content.
