IO Interactive's upcoming James Bond game, 007: First Light, has drawn praise from a former EA producer who worked on the license. Chuck Beaver, who produced Bond games for EA, said that Rocksteady's Batman: Arkham Asylum was the perfect blueprint for a 007 title. He believes Batman is essentially James Bond in a cape and cowl.
Ex-EA producer Chuck Beaver comments on 007: First Light
Beaver noted that EA gave up the Bond license to Activision after From Russia with Love. When Arkham Asylum launched, he and his team realized it captured the essence they had wanted for Bond. The game's focus on stealth, gadgets, and combat aligned with what a Bond game should be.
007: First Light is scheduled for release on May 27, 2026. Players who pre-order the game will get 24-hour early access. The title will be available on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC.
The game is being developed by IO Interactive, the studio behind the Hitman series. Details about the story and gameplay remain limited. The developer has not confirmed whether the game will follow a linear or open-world structure.
