GAMES

Capcom's Devil May Cry 4 has two distinct versions: the original 2008 release and the 2015 Special Edition. Each version has its own modding scene, and players can enhance their experience with several community-created mods.

Two versions, two modding scenes

For the vanilla version, the DMC4Hook mod adds features such as a backport of Nero's sword move from Devil May Cry 5. The Special Edition requires the DDMK mod, which involves patching the game's executable. Both versions support cosmetic mods through Fluffy Mod Manager. A notable fix is the Better Frost Ice Effects mod, which corrects ice effects on non- GPUs.

The original Devil May Cry 4 is no longer sold on , which limits access to certain mods. The Special Edition adds three playable characters but removes some gameplay elements that modders have worked around.

Notebookcheck published a guide detailing these mods and their installation. The source did not confirm whether Capcom plans to restore the original version to digital storefronts.
