Early access launch breaks records

The original Subnautica peaked at 51,156 players eight years ago. More than 5 million wishlists were added before the early access launch. The game is available on Xbox Game Pass and costs 29.99 USD (about $29.99).

Developer Unknown Worlds has been in a leadership dispute with publisher Krafton over a $250 million bonus. A court reinstated the studio's CEO and extended the bonus payout window. The high player count may help meet that goal.

Steam data confirmed the player count figures. Unknown Worlds has not commented on the ongoing dispute.
