Square Enix is adjusting the design of Final Fantasy VII: Revelation to address player feedback from the previous entry in the series. The studio wants to ensure that fans can enjoy the minigames and side content without frustration. This shift matters because it directly changes how players will interact with the game's optional sections. Buyers who disliked the previous iteration's pacing should find these adjustments relevant to their experience.

The title is a major entry in the Final Fantasy VII remake project. It will launch simultaneously on PS5, |S, Switch 2, and PC. The game is scheduled for release in 2027. This broad platform support ensures that players across different ecosystems can access the content at the same time.

Developers are implementing difficulty settings for the minigames based on feedback from Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. Players who find the challenges too steep can now adjust the difficulty to their preference. The studio also confirmed that players have the option to skip the minigame sections entirely. This allows those who prefer to focus on the main story to bypass optional content.

Square Enix is also changing the reward structure for these activities. Most rewards in the minigames will not be tied to combat items. This addresses previous criticism that players felt forced to engage with side content to remain competitive. The goal is to give players a feeling of ease when exploring the game's world.

Naoki Hamaguchi explained the design philosophy behind these changes. He stated, "With that being said, we’re very mindful of the feedback we received for FFVII Rebirth, so we did make a lot of adjustments so that fans can play the minigames and side content sections a lot more smoothly. There will be difficulty settings implemented into the minigames now, and if players feel that it’s not their cup of tea, they have the option to just skip the minigame section, too. And also, most of the rewards are not going to be tied to combat items, either, to give them a feeling of ease." This quote confirms the specific mechanical shifts planned for the 2027 release.
