MADFINGER Games has released update 0.4.2.0 for Gray Zone Warfare. This patch introduces significant changes to player visibility mechanics and artificial intelligence behavior. The developer also addressed several gameplay bugs and environmental issues.
New visibility widget tracks player exposure to AI NPCs based on lighting and cover
The update adds a new player visibility HUD widget. This interface element shows how visible the player is to AI NPCs based on position, lighting, cover, and stance. Night cycles now feature darker environments, which directly impacts visibility mechanics. MADFINGER Games increased AI difficulty in late-game areas and improved AI accuracy across all regions. The team also fixed an issue where AI NPCs could engage players from unintended distances.
Several technical bugs received fixes in this release. The patch resolves a problem where grenades failed to throw when switching stances during the animation. It also corrects the visibility of IR laser impact points without night vision goggles at certain distances. The location of the MCX Chameleon magazine moved to another part of the hotel lobby. The developer fixed multiple spots where players could get stuck in Starter Town, Base Camp, Tiger Bay, Ban Pa, and Blue Lagoon.
Gray Zone Warfare continues to evolve its tactical shooter mechanics through regular updates. The focus on visibility and AI difficulty suggests a shift toward more challenging encounters for players. The inclusion of specific bug fixes for world collision and weapon parts indicates ongoing efforts to stabilize the game experience.
