Galaxy Z Fold 8 Price Leak: Ultra Starts at $2,099 Amid Cost Hikes

Galaxy Z Fold 8 price leak reveals $1,899 base and $2,099 Ultra starting prices. Samsung raises costs amid DRAM and NAND hikes before July 22 launch.

Samsung is preparing to raise prices for its upcoming foldable lineup, a shift driven by rising component costs that will impact buyers looking to upgrade this summer. The company’s Galaxy Unpacked event on July 22 in London will likely confirm these higher costs, meaning consumers should expect to pay more for the new Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Flip 8 devices. This price adjustment reflects broader market pressures on DRAM and NAND memory, making the upcoming launch a critical moment for budget-conscious foldable users.

Samsung raises foldable prices due to component costs ahead of July launch

The standard Galaxy Z Fold 8 and the higher-end Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra will both run on the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy chipset. Samsung is redesigning the form factor for the base model, which now features a 7.6-inch inner screen with a more square 4:3 aspect ratio and a 5.5-inch outer screen with a 16:10 ratio. The Ultra model retains the traditional narrow, elongated shape that fans of the previous generation prefer.

Spec comparison

Spec Galaxy Z Fold 8 Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra
Processor Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy
Inner Screen 7.6-inch, 4:3 aspect ratio Traditional narrow shape
Battery 4,800mAh 5,000mAh
Rear Camera Dual 50MP system Triple-camera, 200MP main
US Price (256GB) $1,899 $2,099

The standard Galaxy Z Fold 8 measures 4.5mm when unfolded and 9.7mm to 9.8mm when folded. The device weighs around 201 grams. Internally, the base model includes a 4,800mAh battery and a dual 50MP rear camera system. The Ultra variant steps up with a slightly larger 5,000mAh battery and retains the Z Fold 7’s triple-camera array featuring a 200MP main sensor.

Pricing leaks suggest significant increases across the board, particularly in Europe where the standard Fold 8 starts at €1,999 (around $2,285) for 256GB. The 512GB version costs €2,199 (around $2,514), while the 1TB model jumps to €2,599 (around $2,971). The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra begins at €2,199 (around $2,514) for 256GB, with the 512GB and 1TB versions priced at €2,399 (around $2,742) and €2,799 (around $3,200) respectively. In the US, the standard Fold 8 (256GB) is expected to start at around $1,899, and the Ultra (256GB) could begin at $2,099.

We looked at Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide, earlier while tracking device certifications, and now the pricing structure is becoming clearer. The clamshell Galaxy Z Flip 8 is also facing higher costs, starting at €1,299 (around $1,485) for 256GB and €1,499 (around $1,714) for 512GB in Europe. Final pricing has not been officially confirmed yet, as costs are still being finalized and could shift slightly before the official reveal.
