8BitDo has dropped the price of their Ultimate Charging Dock for Xbox Controllers to $29.99. That's a $10 drop that should make the peripheral a bit more appealing if you want to get some serious play time without having to worry about changing the batteries out. In addition, they've also launched two new standard colors for the dock. Now you can get the dock in either white or black.
New standard colors replace limited editions at a lower price point
Unlike standard AA batteries in your Xbox controllers, the Ultimate Charging Dock uses an integrated 1,000mAh semi-solid-state lithium battery. By plugging the device into a power adapter using the USB-C cable, you can charge the internal battery. That means the controller will be powered by the dock itself when you set it down on your desk.
Specifications
- Battery Capacity: 1,000mAh semi-solid-state lithium
- Charging Interface: USB-C
- Over Voltage Protection: 6.5V
- Over Current Protection: 500mA
- LED Indicator: Adjustable, Amber (charging), White (full)
The dock is protected with a few different safety features. These include over-voltage protection up to 6.5V and over-current protection of 500mA. There's also a customizable LED light that lets you know the current charging status.
When the controller is charging, the light is amber. When the controller is fully charged, the light is white.
The new standard models of the 8BitDo Ultimate Charging Dock are available to purchase right now on 8BitDo's eShop and Amazon. Earlier this year, we talked about the 8BitDo Xbox Charging Dock X25 Edition that was priced at $40. The new white and black versions will give you the same functionality at a more affordable price.
For $29.99, you can get the 8BitDo Ultimate Charging Dock in white or black. The dock comes with the internal battery already installed. That means you can swap out the standard throwaway batteries with this in any compatible Xbox controller.
