The hardware centers around a 6-inch diagonal e-ink screen and a low-profile keyboard equipped with hot-swappable mechanical switches. This design supports various switch types so writers can customize their typing feel without needing specialized tools. The device stores text directly on an SD card, functions as a standard USB keyboard for external computers, and exports documents to smartphones via QR codes.
Zerowriter claims the built-in battery delivers up to 100 hours of operation due to the low power requirements of the e-ink panel. Independent verification of this runtime remains unavailable at this time. The crowdfunding campaign lists the starting price at $239 USD (about $239) with shipping costs added separately.
The product targets users who require a distraction-free environment for drafting manuscripts or articles without internet connectivity or multitasking features.
