Rebellion's AAA title Atomfall has lost its Denuvo digital rights management protection. This development matters because it demonstrates that high-profile DRM systems remain vulnerable despite active legal enforcement by the DRM owner. Players who purchased the game can now access the software without the original copy-protection layer.
Hacker group bypasses DRM protection while Irdeto subpoenas major platforms
The removal of Denuvo was executed by the hacker group known as Voices38. This action targets a 2025 release from developer Rebellion that relies on Irdeto's security technology. The crack directly affects the game's availability on digital storefronts where DRM is typically enforced.
Irdeto, the owner of Denuvo, filed a federal lawsuit in the United States against Voices38 for violating the Digital Millennium Copyright Act. The company has issued subpoenas to major platforms including Discord, Reddit, and Steam to identify the individual responsible for the crack. These technology platforms have not yet cooperated with Irdeto's legal requests.
Atomfall launched in March 2025 and has seen a significant decline in Steam player counts since that initial release window. The removal of DRM protection coincides with this drop in active user numbers. The game remains available on Steam, but the security layer preventing unauthorized access has been removed.
