has opened a reservation queue for the Controller after the initial batch sold out on May 4. The new system is similar to the queue and gives buyers a 72-hour window to complete their purchase.

Reservation system mirrors Steam Deck queue.

The controller costs 99 USD (about $99.00). It works with the Steam Machine and as a standalone PC gamepad. Each account can order only one controller. Accounts that already purchased a Steam Controller are not eligible. To qualify, the account must have made a purchase before April 27, 2026.

Orders in the US and Canada will start shipping the week of May 11, 2026. Shipments to the UK, EU, and Australia will follow in subsequent weeks.

The Steam Controller is designed alongside the upcoming Steam Machine console, though the console has been delayed due to RAM shortages. In the meantime, the controller functions as a standalone PC gamepad.
