Ubisoft is rebuilding Heroes of Might and Magic III as a full 3D remake, a move that updates a 1999 turn-based strategy classic for modern hardware. Players who enjoyed the original game will finally see the title shift from its static 2D isometric view to a free-moving camera system. This overhaul aims to bring the deep tactical gameplay into the current generation of consoles and PCs.

Classic strategy title receives full 3D overhaul and modern multiplayer

The project comes from Ubisoft’s Chengdu and Shanghai studios, who are using the company’s Snowdrop engine to power the new visuals. The remake targets Xbox Series, PlayStation, and PC platforms, ensuring broad access across major gaming ecosystems. We expect the game to launch in 2027, giving the team ample time to refine the technical foundation.

Visual fidelity receives a major boost with support for 4K resolution, dynamic lighting, and real-time weather effects. The game will also feature seasonal changes that alter the environment during play. The remake replaces the original's flat textures with a more immersive and responsive world.

The package includes the original campaign along with the classic Armageddon’s Blade and The Shadow of Death expansions. Multiplayer support will handle up to eight players simultaneously, while retaining the classic Hot Seat mode for local play. Community content creators can also use the new engine, with confirmed compatibility for maps built over the last 25 years.

Ubisoft Connect, , Epic Games Store, and Ubisoft+ will host the PC release, while console versions will launch on Xbox Series and PlayStation systems. The game is scheduled for a global release in 2027. The game offers a faithful yet modernized experience that respects the original's legacy while leveraging current technology.
