Ubisoft is accelerating its investment in Teammates, which the company describes as a first playable generative AI experience for games. The technology aims to enrich player experiences and manage modern game development pipeline complexity.

The studio plans to use intelligent bots and dynamic worlds to enrich player experiences

The project introduces several AI applications across different areas of production. Developers plan to use intelligent bots for quality control teams to streamline testing processes. The system also supports smarter non-player characters that adapt to player behavior. These dynamic elements allow the game world to react directly to how players interact with it.

Ubisoft narrative director Virginie Mosser stated that the goal is to make players feel like they are shaping the story themselves rather than just following a fixed path. She noted that her AI squad mate Sofia reacts to what she tells her and changes her experience based on those interactions. Mosser called this approach a real breakthrough that allows players to experience the story in their own way.

The move reflects a broader industry shift toward integrating generative AI into game development pipelines. Ubisoft is positioning Teammates as a tool to handle the increasing complexity of modern software production while giving developers more creative control over player experiences.
