Thermalright released the Peerless Assassin 120 SE V3, an updated version of its popular budget CPU cooler. The new model replaces the previous TL-C12C-X28 fans with slimmer TL-P12 units that spin faster. This change pushes the maximum fan speed to 2,000 RPM while adjusting the cooling balance.

The updated cooler maintains support for AMD AM4 and AM5 sockets alongside Intel LGA 1851, 1700, 1150, 1151, and 1200 platforms. The manufacturer retained the original mounting bracket configuration, allowing owners of previous models to replace their fans without needing a new cooler base.
Static pressure improved from 2.21mm H2O in the prior model to 2.63mm H2O with the new fan configuration. Total airflow decreased slightly during testing, and noise levels increased marginally compared to the V2 iteration. This design choice prioritizes consistent cooling efficiency at the expense of acoustic comfort.
The cooler ships at an unchanged price of $37, matching the previous V2 cost exactly. The company presented the update as an iterative improvement to its existing lineup instead of introducing a separate series. Buyers looking for budget cooling solutions can now access slightly higher static pressure without paying extra.
