CD Projekt RED released hotfix 5.00c for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remaster to address critical stability issues and restore missing features. This update matters because it fixes a bug that previously blocked players from launching the classic version of the game. Players who relied on the older 1.32 build can now return to that specific experience without encountering launch failures.
Hotfix 5.00c restores classic version launch and reverts HairWorks performance issues
The hotfix targets the PC version of the remaster and restores the ability to launch the classic version (1.32) of the game. It also reverts a recent change that caused significant performance and graphics issues for some players when HairWorks technology was enabled. These adjustments aim to stabilize the game across different configuration preferences.
CD Projekt RED listed the following changes in hotfix 5.00c: "Fixed an issue where the game could not be saved or loaded if the path to the 'Documents' folder contained special characters. Fixed an issue where voice acting became noticeably quieter than other in-game sounds after switching between menu tabs. Various visual changes have been made in Velen, including adjustments to the glow effect settings, vegetation lighting, saturation, and path-traced lighting. Fixed an issue where telemetry settings were not saved correctly. Fixed an issue in the GOG version where earned achievements were not displayed in the list."
The patch resolves save and load problems that occurred when file paths contained special characters. It also corrects an audio imbalance where voice acting dropped in volume relative to other sounds after menu navigation. Telemetry settings now save correctly, and the GOG version properly displays earned achievements. The game is already available on Steam, GOG, Epic Games Store, Battle.net, and for Xbox Play Anywhere.
