Electronic Arts released a major update for The Sims 4 on May 12. The patch, identified as version 2.33 for console and 1.121.361.1020 for other platforms, brings significant changes to the life simulation game. The developer describes the update as a comprehensive overhaul that addresses community feedback and introduces new gameplay features.

Patch introduces Base Layers CAS accessory and free Lil’Wiggle Playmat for infants

The update includes over 150 bug fixes across the base game and various expansion packs. These fixes target major improvements to infant autonomy, sleep mechanics, and toddler gameplay. Electronic Arts also added a new toggleable option in the settings menu to disable caregiver autonomy for infants. Players can now use a new Sleep and Cuddle interaction to enhance social dynamics between characters.

New content focuses on customization and save management. The patch introduces Base Layers, a new CAS accessory that provides over 380 swatches for outfit customization. Developers added a free Lil’Wiggle Playmat to the base game for infant customization. The update also expands the Backup Save feature to include Day, Week, and Month retention options for player safety.

A limited-time login event called Lady Bridgerton’s Masquerade Ball runs from May 12 to July 7. This event brings themed content to the game, including two new kits and a dazzling bundle. Electronic Arts stated that the event aims to bring a bit of the Ton to The Sims 4 for the duration of the promotion.

The update is available globally as of May 12. Electronic Arts has not disclosed specific pricing for the new kits or bundles associated with the event. The company continues to refine the game based on community-voted issues and technical performance data.
