Red Barrels released the Season 7 update for The Outlast Trials on July 14, bringing significant changes to the game's core loops. Players can now explore a new environment and face fresh threats in a major content drop. This update reshapes how survivors and imposters interact in the game's asymmetric multiplayer mode.

New Prison Farm environment and Invasion 2.0 overhaul arrive in Season 7

The update, titled Project Boneyard, arrives via Patch 1.59 and version 1.600.009. It introduces the Prison Farm as the new Trial environment for players to navigate. The patch also adds a new Trial called Locksock the Warden, featuring the return of Sergeant Leland Coyle. A new enemy type, The Biter, joins the roster of Ex-Pops that hunt players.

Red Barrels reworked the Imposter role to serve as a constant threat throughout a Trial. They equipped Imposters with new Gadgets to support different tactics and hunting strategies. The update also overhauls Invasion mode into Invasion 2.0, adding a Struggle minigame. Escalation Therapy 2.0 resets previous progress and introduces weekly leaderboards for competitive play.

Community Event Blood Drive introduces Blood Extractors that permanently reduce max health for samples. New customization options for Rigs and Knives are available via Mastery Tasks and Catalogs. We looked at the last The Outlast Trials update earlier while tracking similar balance and stability themes.

The Prison Farm environment and Locksock the Warden trial are now live for all players. The new Imposter gadgets and Invasion 2.0 changes are active in the current patch. Players can access the new customization options through the in-game Catalogs.
