Ubisoft has released a major update for The Division 2, launching Year 8 Season 2: Into the Dark via Patch 2.29 on June 16, 2025. The patch overhauls the PvP experience and introduces new gear, weapons, and missions. It is the first step in a broader update to PvP, with changes applying across Conflict and all Dark Zone variants.
Three Dark Zone variants debut with distinct rulesets
The update brings three Dark Zone variants: Classic, Toxic, and Balanced. The three Dark Zone variants each feature distinct rulesets tailored to different playstyles. PvP balance improvements accompany the new Dark Zone options.
New Exotic weapons include the Caduceus and Underboss. The Caduceus has a talent where critical hits repair you and allies for 3% of the hit’s dealt damage. A new Exotic gear piece grants the Impervious talent, giving both you and allies within 10m +40% Hazard Protection. The Ortiz: Reficere gear set’s 4-piece talent decreases Healing Skills’ Duration and Range by 90% but increases Healing Efficiency by 150%.

Two new Classified Assignments are available: Conspiracy Zone Hideout and McMillan Reservoir Assault. The global modifier ‘Cleaning up the Streets’ and Active Modifiers with the Surge mechanic add new gameplay twists. Exotic component drop rates have increased in Dark Zones.
The Division 2 was previously covered as part of Ubisoft’s live-service updates. Patch 2.29 is available globally now.
