Elden Ring debuts as top new release while Rhythm Heaven holds overall lead
The weekly software chart shows a tight race between new releases and established hits. Elden Ring Tarnished Edition debuted as the highest-selling new release with 27,604 units. Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2 followed closely with 26,905 total units across PS5, Switch 2, and Switch platforms.
Existing titles continue to dominate the overall rankings. Rhythm Heaven Groove remained the top-selling game overall with 34,688 units. This performance kept it ahead of the new Elden Ring release for the week.
Other notable debuts included Neptunia Unlimited on PS5, Switch 2, and Switch. Captain Tsubasa II: World Fighters also launched on PS5 and Switch 2. Famitsu compiled these physical sales figures for the Japan region.
