Unknown Worlds Entertainment has announced a timeline for the Early Access period of Subnautica 2, revealing that development will focus on delivering quality at a reasonable pace before the full release.
The developer stated that based on previous Early Access games they have developed, they expect the period to last about two to three years. This approach aims to complete Subnautica 2 and make it the best game possible for players.
Judging by previous game timelines and the expected duration of Early Access, the original Subnautica 1.0 version should be available for purchase sometime between December 2028 and May 2029. This window is subject to change as development progresses.
Historical data shows that the original Subnautica spent just over three years in Early Access from December 2014 until January 2018. The sequel Subnautica: Below Zero remained in Early Access for two and a half years, running from January 2019 to May 2021.
Insider Gaming reported on the expected launch window derived from developer statements and historical data from previous titles. Unknown Worlds Entertainment has not confirmed the exact release date beyond the estimated timeframe.
