North Beach Games revealed the first look at Stranded Deep 2, marking a shift from the oceanic survival of the original to a harsh desert environment. This change matters because it expands the survival sandbox formula into a new terrain where water is a resource to navigate rather than a barrier. Players who enjoyed the isolation of the first game will find the same tension here, but with different survival mechanics tied to heat and thirst.

Sequel shifts to desert wilderness with mobile river bases
The sequel is a PC title planned for an Early Access launch on Steam. North Beach Games Prague, led by creative director Sam Edwards, is developing the project. The game retains the core identity of the series while introducing a desert wilderness setting. This environment features an endless river that carves through canyons, dunes, and valleys.
Survival mechanics focus on managing health, hunger, thirst, and exposure to the elements. Players can scavenge resources to craft tools and build floating homes on the river. These structures are mobile, allowing players to pack up and move to new stretches of water. The world reacts to player actions, with animals following a real food chain and terrain that can be reshaped.
A revamped Cartographer editor lets players create and share their own locations. This tool supports user-generated content that can be added to the world and shared with friends. The game is built on community feedback and will receive regular updates. These updates aim to add new biomes, wildlife, and crafting options over time.
Stranded Deep 2 is currently in development with no set release date. We will track the progress of the Early Access launch as more details emerge.
