A new Spyro game is coming. Toys for Bob announced Spyro: A Realm Beyond, the first mainline entry in the series since 2008. The game introduces active dragonflight, letting players fly freely from ground to sky.
Toys for Bob returns to the series
Toys for Bob is developing the game as an independent studio, having split from Activision. Toys for Bob previously developed the Spyro Reignited Trilogy in 2018.
The key feature is seamless flight. Players can move from the ground to the skies whenever they like, according to studio head Lou Studdert. He described it as a whole new way to play Spyro.
Seamless flight changes gameplay
Spyro: A Realm Beyond launches in Spring 2027. It will be available on Steam, Xbox, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch 2.
The last original Spyro game released in 2008. The 2018 remastered trilogy brought the series back to modern platforms. This new title marks the first original adventure in nearly two decades.
The announcement comes from a PCGamesN report. The game is confirmed for a Spring 2027 release across multiple platforms.
