The Crazy Taxi social media account shared a new teaser video. The clip shows a taxi rooflight flickering before returning to normal. Sega is reportedly revitalizing classic franchises with this development.
Social media account shares flickering rooflight clip hinting at new open-world title
Reports indicate the upcoming title will be an open-world game built in Unreal Engine. This would mark the first major console release for the series in over two decades. The last console entry was Crazy Taxi 3: High Roller in 2002. A mobile installment called Crazy Taxi Tycoon launched in 2017 and left app stores in April 2020.
Sega featured the property in a trailer at the Game Awards in 2023. The publisher has also promoted other classic franchises like Streets of Rage and OutRun since then. This recent social media activity confirms development is underway for the arcade-style driving franchise.
Sega first teased the return of Crazy Taxi alongside Jet Set Radio over two years ago. The company has not confirmed a launch window or specific release details for the new project.
