Enterprise builders and AI system integrators now have a new benchmark for power efficiency with the release of the Seasonic Prime Enterprise RX-1600. This 1600-watt unit becomes the first ATX power supply to earn 80 PLUS Ruby certification, a tier designed for high-demand workloads. The certification matters because it sets a higher bar for energy conservation in data centers and heavy workstation environments.

Enterprise power supply sets new efficiency standard for high-wattage workloads

Seasonic introduced the Prime Enterprise RX-1600 to address the growing power needs of modern computing infrastructure. The unit targets high-wattage desktops, professional workstations, and AI systems that require stable and efficient power delivery. This release positions Seasonic as a leader in enterprise-grade hardware solutions.

Specifications

  • Power Output: 1600W
  • Certification: 80 PLUS Ruby
  • Efficiency at 5% Load: 85%
  • Efficiency at 10% Load: 91%
  • Efficiency at 20% Load: 93%

The power supply achieves 85% efficiency at just 5% load, which is a strict requirement for the Ruby standard. It maintains 91% efficiency at 10% load and 93% at 20% load. Efficiency peaks at 95% under 50% load before settling at 91% during full load conditions. These metrics place the RX-1600 above every other ATX PSU currently on the market in terms of certified efficiency.

Seasonic CEO Walter Sun explained that reaching the Ruby standard reflects years of engineering focus. He noted that every additional percent of efficiency gets harder to squeeze out of a power supply. However, he emphasized that these small gains add up to real savings at scale for large deployments. The company previously held records for 80 PLUS Gold and Titanium certifications, dating back to 2008.

Pricing and retail availability for regular DIY builders have not been confirmed yet. The current information focuses on the technical achievements and enterprise targeting of the unit. Buyers interested in this specific efficiency tier should await further announcements from Seasonic regarding market access.
