Samsung is confirming the processor for its next foldable lineup, a move that clarifies which buyers get the latest high-end silicon. The Galaxy Unpacked event will take place on July 22 in London, setting the stage for the official reveal. Samsung confirms Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for the Galaxy Z Fold 8
The Galaxy Z Fold 8 will be powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset. This processor represents the current peak in mobile computing power for Samsung's mainstream foldable devices. The company is positioning this chip as the central engine for the new foldable experience.
Samsung is also rolling out a different processor for its flip-style device. The Z Flip 8 is expected to use Samsung's own Exynos 2600 chipset instead of the Qualcomm option. This split strategy means buyers will see different internal hardware depending on whether they choose the fold or the flip.
The Z Fold 8 Ultra is also expected to use the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, aligning it with the standard Fold 8. This chipset is exclusive to Samsung mainstream foldables in the US and China markets. The entire lineup, including the Fold 8, Fold 8 Ultra, and Flip 8, will be available globally starting July 22.
