Samsung has determined that several older Galaxy devices will not receive the upcoming One UI 9.0 software update based on Android 17. This decision affects buyers who rely on these phones for long-term support, as the exclusion means these models will miss out on new operating system features and interface improvements. Users with these specific devices should plan for hardware upgrades sooner than expected if they want to stay on the latest software track.

Flagship and mid-range models miss major OS upgrade

The list of ineligible devices covers a wide range of Samsung's recent lineup, including the Galaxy S22, Galaxy S21 FE, and Galaxy Z Fold 4. Samsung also excludes the Galaxy Z Flip 4, the Galaxy Tab S8 series, and the Galaxy XCover 6 Pro from the major update. Mid-range and budget options from previous generations, such as the Galaxy A73 5G, Galaxy A53 5G, Galaxy A14, and various M and F series models, are similarly left out.
