Saber Interactive has quietly dismantled its Latin American division, Saber LATAM, following the cancellation of an unannounced multiplayer game in the Metro franchise. This restructuring eliminates a development studio that once employed over 100 people and marks a significant contraction for the publisher. The move directly impacts the careers of dozens of developers across Argentina, Peru, and Uruguay who are now facing unemployment.

Saber Interactive dismantles its Latin American division following the cancellation of an unannounced multiplayer game in the Metro franchise.

The cancelled project, known internally as Metro Multiplayer, began development nearly six years ago under Saber LATAM, which was formerly called Nimble Giant Entertainment. The studio reached its peak staffing levels before the project was abruptly removed from the company's roadmap. Longtime CEO and co-founder Andres Chilkowski has departed the company, with COO Lucas Wall assuming leadership during this transition.

Saber LATAM has laid off 25 employees as a direct result of the project's cancellation. Additional workforce reductions have recently occurred in the company's offices in Peru and Uruguay. The studio had previously struggled with the commercial performance of Star Trek: Infinite and the earlier Quantum League title, which likely contributed to the decision to halt further investment in the Metro multiplayer initiative.

Lucas Wall confirmed to PressOver that the studio had lost a big project, though he did not explicitly name the game. Industry speculation suggests Saber will transfer the Metro multiplayer assets to another developer and restart development from scratch. This is a rumor based on industry patterns rather than a confirmed company statement. The Metro franchise itself continues under the stewardship of 4A Games, with Metro 2039 scheduled for release in February 2027.
