Jagex released update 1.000.007 for RuneScape: Dragonwilds on October 2 to address a critical character save issue. This patch matters because the bug prevented inventory and quest progression from storing correctly when players switched worlds. Players on consoles can now resume their progress without losing data to synchronization errors.

Patch restores inventory and quest progression storage for console players

The studio acknowledged the character save issue and explained the technical fix in a direct quote. Jagex stated, "We’re currently testing a resolution to the issue with the aim of deploying this across platforms on Friday if tests are successful. The save data will pull the world that you have spent the most time in (specifically the world with the most save states logged in it, which works out generally the same) as the “True” save that will be taken as the main source." This approach ensures the most active save file becomes the primary source of truth.

The patch fixes a character save issue where inventory and quest progression were not storing correctly when switching worlds. Jagex clarified the recovery process for affected players in another statement. The studio noted, "If you were in World 1, and then went to World 2, and lost progress, your progress in World 1 is still there. After the hotfix is applied, loading into World 1 will get the correct save, and you’ll be able to hop to any world after that save has been updated." This confirms that data remains intact on the original world server.

This bug is distinct from earlier save corruption problems experienced at launch. The fix prioritizes the save data from the world with the most logged-in save states as the 'True' save. The patch is confirmed live on PS5, with an Xbox rollout expected shortly. When we covered the last RuneScape: Dragonwilds update, several of the same balance and stability themes came up.

Jagex deployed version 1.000.007 on October 2 to resolve these specific world-switching save errors. The update restores correct data retention for inventory and quest logs on console platforms. Players on PS5 can access the fix immediately, while Xbox users await the rollout.
