Roblox Corporation announced Roblox Reality in April 2026, a new rendering architecture designed to deliver photorealistic visuals within the platform. The system combines the existing Roblox Game Engine with a Video World Model to generate high-fidelity graphics. This hybrid approach aims to democratize realistic multiplayer gaming by offloading heavy visual processing to the cloud.
Current version functions only as a lab prototype without real-time operation
The technology targets a resolution of 2K at 60 Hz for end users. It relies on H200 or B200-class GPUs located in cloud-edge datacenters rather than local hardware. Players do not need high-end graphics cards like the RTX 5090 to run the system. The Roblox Video Model, also known as the Super Upsampler, processes rendered video and data context to produce stochastic visuals.
Roblox Developers stated that the system operates on edge infrastructure to ensure optimal performance without burdening local devices. Core world state remains stored durably on servers to maintain consistency across clients and sessions. Multiplayer gameplay utilizes strong server authority for fairness alongside speculative client-side simulation to reduce latency. Cloud-based level of detail systems generate assets delivered via a content delivery network.
The current version of the technology functions only as a lab prototype and does not yet run in real time. Roblox has not provided an estimated time of arrival for when the feature will become available to the public. The company has not disclosed any pricing details or specific availability regions for the rollout.
