Qualcomm Welcomes Nvidia RTX Spark to ARM Ecosystem, Highlights Its Own Investments

Qualcomm's top computing executive welcomed Nvidia's new RTX Spark chip, calling it a positive sign for the ARM ecosystem. The comment came after Nvidia announced its ARM-based SoC for Windows PCs.

Kedar Kondap, Qualcomm's SVP of Computing, told Windows Central that Nvidia's entry validates the investments Qualcomm has made over several years. He emphasized Qualcomm's work on printer compatibility, software support, peripheral integration, and over 2,500 games for Snapdragon.

Nvidia's RTX Spark promises compatibility with every Windows app, addressing a key concern for Windows on ARM. Qualcomm has also made progress in that area, but Nvidia's approach may address the issue more comprehensively.

Kondap's tone balanced welcoming Nvidia with highlighting Qualcomm's own investments. He framed Nvidia's move as positive tailwinds for the entire ecosystem, but also highlighted Qualcomm's pioneering role.

Qualcomm has shipped multiple generations of Snapdragon X chips, including the X Elite, X Plus, and the upcoming X2 series. The company has spent years building the ARM laptop ecosystem from scratch.

The RTX Spark announcement signals growing competition in the ARM PC space. Qualcomm currently leads the ARM Windows market, but Nvidia's entry may speed up adoption of ARM-based Windows laptops.
