PUBG Studios released console patch 42.1 for PUBG on June 25, introducing significant balance changes and new gameplay modes. Console players get new Rondo mode and faster ranked matches starting July 9

The patch brings Update version 1.017 to the console build, synchronizing the experience with recent PC adjustments. PUBG Studios added a new Blue Zone ruleset called Rondo to the Arcade LABS mode, offering players a fresh environment for standard matches. The developer also introduced interactive smoke mechanics, allowing smoke clouds to disperse when hit by explosions or vehicle collisions.

  • Update Version: 1.017
  • Patch Version: 42.1
  • SLR Muzzle Velocity: 840m/s → 870m/s
  • Med Kit Weight: 20 → 15
  • Med Kit Usage Time: 8 seconds → 6 seconds

Weapon and item balances shifted to improve combat flow and inventory management. The SLR sniper rifle received a muzzle velocity increase from 840m/s to 870m/s along with reduced horizontal recoil to stabilize shooting. Healing items underwent major tweaks, with Med Kit weight dropping from 20 to 15 and Bandage healing duration shortening from 5 to 3 seconds.

Performance optimizations targeted smoke rendering and particle effects to reduce the computational impact of smoke deployment. The Blue Zone damage system transitioned from distance-based scaling to time-based scaling, changing how players navigate the shrinking play area. Ranked Season 42 now runs for three months to provide more time for players to engage with the upcoming Ranked Revamp.

Match durations for both Ranked and Esports modes decreased from 32 minutes 50 seconds to 30 minutes 10 seconds, speeding up competitive play. The update also added new tools for the UGC Racing Mode, including checkpoints and vehicle performance customization options. Players can access the console update between July 9 at 07:00 UTC and July 23 at 01:00 UTC.
