Grinding Gear Games has set a firm launch date for Path of Exile 2, ending months of speculation about the title's arrival. The studio confirmed that the 1.0 release will hit global servers on December 11, 2026. This date gives players a clear target for when the full experience becomes available. Buyers can now plan their time and budget around this specific deadline.
New sword-wielding Duelist class arrives with full launch
The game introduces a new character class called the Duelist, which was revealed during a showcase at Gamescom 2026. This class wields swords and offers a distinct playstyle compared to existing options. The studio noted that weapon flexibility remains a core design pillar, allowing swords to be used by other classes as well. This detail suggests that the Duelist is not the only option for melee-focused players.
Early access content will arrive in stages before the full launch. The upcoming 0.5.5 patch is scheduled to bring an economy reset to the game world. This reset aims to refresh the in-game market and balance item values. The studio indicated that the new Duelist class is unlikely to debut with this patch.
Instead, the Duelist will almost certainly launch alongside the 1.0 release in December. Players who pre-register for the game will receive several cosmetic rewards. These items include weapon effects, portal scroll reskins, wings, and a fiery pet. We looked at the last Path of Exile 2 update, and several of the same balance and stability themes came up.
The confirmed December 11 date marks the end of the early access period. Grinding Gear Games will shift focus to the full launch and post-release support. Players waiting for the Duelist class will need to wait until the 1.0 patch. The pre-registration rewards are available immediately for those who sign up now.
