Pocketpair is shifting its strategy for the Palworld franchise by developing standalone spinoff titles instead of integrating new features as modes within the main game. This decision matters to players because it signals a commitment to distinct creative experiences rather than expanding the core game into a persistent metaverse platform. The studio aims to let these new projects develop their own identities without the constraints of the primary title’s architecture.
Pocketpair confirms two separate titles instead of in-game modes
The first confirmed spinoff is Palworld: Palfarm, which will operate as a separate product. Pocketpair also revealed plans for a second project titled Palworld! ~More Than Just Pals. These titles will explore different perspectives on the existing world and characters while remaining independent from the original Palworld release.
John Bucky Buckley, Head of Publishing and Communications at Pocketpair, explained that the studio prioritizes creative freedom over maximizing revenue as quickly as possible. He noted that while the metaverse approach used by Fortnite is a valid strategy, it is not the path chosen for Palworld. The team believes that separating these concepts into standalone games gives them more room to develop unique identities.
Pocketpair stated that the goal of these spinoffs is to offer new perspectives on the Palworld world and characters rather than replacing the main game. The studio acknowledges that some players might expect a unified metaverse experience but insists that separate titles allow for more focused development. These projects will launch as distinct products rather than in-game modes.
