Play by Play Studios will host a second closed beta playtest for its basketball game NBA The Run on May 16. The playtest runs from 10am to 2pm PT and 1pm to 5pm ET.

The update includes dozens of changes. New dribble and sprint animations have been added. Shooter accuracy is reduced when moving. Pass arcs are improved. A new ruleset called Zonebreaker is introduced. Dunk range is extended. Back court shooting difficulty is tuned. Pass speed and prediction are increased. In the Zone presentation is improved. Ball bounce off the rim for rebounding is better. Nearby defenders now affect shooting accuracy. Shove costs more stamina and slows the player more. New sprint dribble animations and a long pass animation are added. Jumpshot animations are improved. A new self posterize animation and more knockdown animations are included. Visuals for passing out of jumpshots and dunks are improved. Dropping Dimes ball receiver time is extended. It is harder to steal or shove during a pump fake. Camera change is moved to the PS5 Touchpad or Xbox View button. A HUD pop-up shows the current camera. Keyboard controls are updated. MVP calculations are tuned and MVP presentation is improved. An orange wrist band is added to Ant. Advanced spin moves are more impactful. The clock on throw-in does not start until possession. Inbounding pathfinding is improved. Players can skip the end of tournament video. Ready Up icon legibility is improved.

The second playtest is scheduled for May 16. Players can participate globally during the specified window.

The update addresses community feedback from the first playtest. Play by Play Studios continues to refine NBA The Run ahead of its full release. The game is being developed for consoles and PC.
