GAME PERFORMANCE

Infinity Ward is preparing Modern Warfare 4 for its beta launch on August 21, and early data suggests the game will feature a faster combat pace than recent entries. This shift in time-to-kill (TTK) metrics directly impacts how players approach engagements, favoring aggressive positioning over cautious play. Gamers should expect tighter firefights where reaction speed matters more than sustained suppression.

Early beta analysis shows faster combat pace than recent entries but slower than Infinity Ward's 2019 and 2022 titles

The analysis comes from YouTuber TheXclusiveAce, who tested a limited selection of weapons during the early access period. He found that Modern Warfare 4's average TTK sits slightly faster than Modern Warfare 3 (2023), Black Ops 6, and Black Ops 7. However, the pace remains slower than the previous two Infinity Ward titles, Modern Warfare 2 (2022) and Modern Warfare (2019).

Assault rifles in the beta require four shots to kill at maximum damage range. Submachine guns generally take five shots to eliminate an opponent, though the X-58 Nyx is an exception, falling to four shots. Light machine guns show a wider variance, with the Type 73 needing four shots and the FINN requiring just three.

TheXclusiveAce noted that these averages are based on a very small selection of weapons, so the final numbers could shift when the full game releases. Developer tweaks or the addition of more armaments might alter the current balance. We looked at the last Modern Warfare 4 update while tracking these balance and stability themes.

The beta opens globally on August 21, giving players a chance to test these changes firsthand. Until then, the current TTK data serves as a preliminary guide for loadout planning. The final combat rhythm will depend on the complete weapon roster and any post-launch adjustments.
