The Miyoo Mini Plus V2 is out and available to order. The reason for the upgrade is that finally the new processor makes it possible to run older console games. This means Dreamcast, N64, PSP games are now playable on the retro handheld that wouldn't otherwise be possible for the original Miyoo Mini Plus.

What it does is upgrade a cheap handheld into a more serious retro handheld. All without changing anything about the overall physical design.

Specifications

  • Processor: Rockchip RK3562
  • Display: 3.5-inch IPS, 640 x 480
  • RAM: 128MB DDR3
  • Battery: 3000mAh
  • Price: $69.99 USD

The update of the Miyoo Mini Plus V2 is coming from Miyoo to help overcome any performance issues the original Miyoo Mini Plus was suffering from. While the design of the new handheld retains the same general shape it has changed out the System on Chip for something different. In particular the new Miyoo Mini Plus V2 is getting a Rockchip RK3562 instead of the SigmaStar SSD202D from the first generation. This is the key reason why we're seeing improvements to emulation capabilities.

Outside of the actual processor the specifications are pretty much the same for the new Miyoo Mini Plus V2 as they were for the first generation. It includes a 3.5" inch display with an IPS display resolution of 640 x 480. The device has 128MB DDR3 RAM for memory.

The battery is a 3000mAh battery. It weighs 200g and it's dimensions are 108 x 78.5 x 22mm. The microSD card slot allows you to expand storage up to 128GB in size. Wi-Fi is included for transferring files and updating online.

The new Miyoo Mini Plus V2 comes in four different colors; Transparent Purple, Black, White and Grey. The retail price for this handheld is $69.99 USD according to Miyoo. However when you checkout you can enter the code RH15 to get the price down to $59.49 USD.

Right now the new Miyoo Mini Plus V2 can be purchased from GoGameGeek. For $69.99 USD it definitely fits the budget category when compared to other current retro handhelds.

We covered a rumor about the Miyoo Flip V3 Rumored to Get 2GB RAM and Transparent Shells. For now the Flip V3 is in the works. So if you want something sooner then that, then this Mini Plus V2 is the one you want to grab. The Miyoo Mini Plus V2 is a known and readily available option for the retro gaming enthusiast.
