Minisforum has introduced the MS-03, a new mini workstation that targets users needing serious processing power in a compact chassis. This release matters because it brings the latest Panther Lake architecture to the small form factor market, offering a significant leap in computational density for professionals who cannot fit a traditional tower on their desk. The device aims to replace older generation mini PCs with a much more capable alternative for demanding workloads.

New workstation targets professionals needing high density

The core of the MS-03 is the Intel Core Ultra 9 386H processor, which belongs to the Panther Lake family. This chip combines four Cougar Cove performance cores with eight Darkmont efficiency cores and four Darkmont low-power efficiency cores. It also integrates a 4 Xe3-core iGPU to handle display output and light graphics tasks. Minisforum claims this configuration makes the MS-03 significantly faster than the older MS-01 model they reviewed previously.

Specifications

  • Processor: Intel Core Ultra 9 386H (Panther Lake)
  • Memory: Up to 128 GB DDR5 at 7,200 MT/s
  • Networking: Dual 10GbE fibre, 10GbE RJ45, 2.5GbE RJ45
  • Expansion: 3x M.2 2280, PCIe x16, dual USB4
  • Cooling: Blower-style fan, tool-free slide-out design

Memory support tops out at 128 GB of DDR5 RAM running at 7,200 MT/s, providing ample bandwidth for heavy multitasking. Networking is robust, featuring dual 10 Gigabit fibre connections via Intel's Ethernet Network Adapter X710. The system also includes a 10 Gigabit RJ45 port and a 2.5 Gigabit RJ45 port for flexible wired connectivity. These options allow users to connect to high-speed enterprise networks or standard home setups without adapters.

Expansion capabilities include three M.2 2280 slots and a PCIe x16 slot for low-profile expansion cards. Users can also expand the system via its dual USB4 ports if they prefer external solutions. Thermal management relies on a blower-style fan and three heatpipes. The chassis design allows for tool-free slide-out access, making hardware upgrades or maintenance straightforward for the end user.

Minisforum is launching the MS-03 globally, but the company has not yet confirmed specific pricing or exact availability dates. We looked at the Minisforum N4 NAS Features Intel Wildcat in our earlier Minisforum coverage to track the vendor's recent hardware trends. The MS-03 stands as a high-specification option for those waiting for Panther Lake in a mini-PC form factor, with final purchase details to follow.
