Minecraft fans have a new reason to plan a trip to London next year. Mojang Studios and Merlin Entertainments are building a physical theme park land called Minecraft World. Sixty-nine biome-themed rooms and an underwater restaurant join the park expansion
The new land will replace the former Wild Asia area at Chessington World of Adventures. It is scheduled to open in 2027 in south-west London. The project includes a dedicated hotel with 69 rooms spread across four floors. Guests will stay in biome-themed accommodations without needing to craft their own beds.
A central feature of the land is a rollercoaster named Escape the Nether. Riders will experience minecart journeys where Steve and Alex battle game mobs. The official page teases the experience with the question, "Will you escape? And yes, there's lava." This attraction brings the game's dangerous environments into a physical thrill ride format.
The announcement also revealed The Sift, the game's first new dimension in over 14 years. This digital expansion complements the physical land's theme. The hotel will feature an underwater restaurant and a Woodland Mansion-themed bar. Room rates have not been revealed, and exact opening dates remain unconfirmed.
